“ Man’s capacity for justice makes democracy possible, but man’s inclination to injustice makes democracy necessary.

In the present era, where each one of us want to cherish the triumphs of freedom, break all sorts of  clutches of the evil  and climb the ladder taking us to success and zenith ,one’s rights as well as duties can’t be overlooked.  So, the form of government a country has i.e. the law making body plays a very crucial role.

We have countless systems of government in the world, some perishing with time as their laws are mere words existing on parchment of paper while others operating in  corners of true power. There are monarchs, autocrats, dictators and many more. But then, my dear readers, I want to convey to you all  that the best form of these governmental systems, which have been tested and trusted by decades, is Democracy- Rule of the people, Rule for the people and Rule by the people.

Before I proceed stating the premises on which I base this assertion, I would like to tell something about democracy. Democracy is the system of government in which citizens  exercise power directly by electing the representatives .Democracy marks a tribute to the wisdom and foresight of  the philosophers who presented the democratic nations enshrined with glory , liberty , equality , freedom and success. The Republic of India is the largest democracy in the world.

I would like to mention a few advantages  of democracy :-

1. It treats all the people equally whether rich or poor, strong or weak, educated or not, male or female.

2. It not only promotes human rights but also animal and constitutional rights.

3. Decisions are taken after debates and discussions, this reduces the chances of wrong decisions.

4. it is a responsive, accountable and legitimate form of government.

5. It gives people the freedom to choose their own representatives.

6. It has room for  the correction of mistakes.

7.  It is open for change.

8. Plans , laws and implementations take place in a peaceful manner.

9. It not only provides rights but also ensures citizens perform certain duties.

10. Allows citizens to voice against their rulers.

And the point to be highlighted and underlined is that in monarchy rulers are hereditary from one generation to other which certainly doesn’t guarantee that they are efficient enough to lead a country due to nepotism. In the same way in other forms of autocracy like dictatorship , leaders have no fear of losing their power and hence  they may misuse it for their personal benefits or for harming the innocents ,  resulting in  loss of dignity of the people and the nation .

Winding up my thoughts , I would say that I understood democracy as something that gives me the same opportunity as you all, the same chance to the weak as to the strong and a honored approach to each one of us. Thus democracy, in my perspective, is the best form of government .
